For the first time in our range, we are introducing coffee from the exotic African country of Malawi and it is definitely something to look forward to. This coffee will surprise you with its fresh to sparkling acidity, medium body with a subtle hint of chocolate and an herbal finish. It is grown in the area around the Misuku Hills, where farmers have joined forces within the Phoka cooperative. The plantations are located at altitudes between 1,300 and 1,500 meters, which contributes to a lighter, fruity espresso.

The taste is rich with notes of peach, cocoa, orange and herbal nuances. The coffee brings a fruity sweetness with a hint of raisins and an interesting subtle aroma of tomato basil. This complexity gives the coffee a balanced acidity and a pleasantly spicy aftertaste.

Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, relies heavily on agriculture as its main source of livelihood. Coffee, introduced to Malawi by the British in the 19th century, has become a key crop and its cultivation is booming. Arabica varieties such as Geisha, Catimor and Agaro dominate the premium coffee market, proving that Malawian coffee plantations have a lot to offer.

Malawi is also known for its unique cultivation method, where coffee trees are often grown on terraces, which helps prevent soil erosion and effectively retain water. Most of the coffee grown ends up in export markets in Western Europe and the USA. Malawi Misuku Hills was rated 84.75 points according to Q grading analysis, which demonstrates its high quality and balance of flavors. Coffee from this area is an example of sustainability and support for local farmers in the development of the coffee industry in Malawi.
